Under the direction of the Operations Support Bureau Chief (DESA I), the Business Services Assistant (BSA) has the lead responsibility over the supply and mail activities of a Branch office (with staffing from 100 to 200+ employees). the BSA is responsible for the confidential destruction of records, the maintenance of audio-visual equipment, and the coordination of equipment and/or furniture moves, within the Branch. the incumbent is also responsible for the maintenance of the branch stock room. The BSA may oversee the Branch mail room; Oversees the coordination of mail distribution; Processes and distributes incoming and outgoing internal, U.S. Mail and courier service deliveries. Purchases routine equipment and completes accurate and timely records of equipment delivery and maintenance.
This position requires Federal fingerprint clearance and background check. Criminal record checks of prospective full or part-time CDSS, Disability Determination Service Division (DDSD) personnel will be conducted. Applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints for Federal processing. Federal clearance is a condition of employment for this position. (Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12)

This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. Headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
