Job Description

Gem Care is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Engineer for a a leading manufacturing facility in Morristown, TN. This is an ideal role for a recent college graduate or an entry-level engineer. The salary range is 60 to 70K depending on experience. This is a direct-hire role with a benefits package. This role is responsible for analyzing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety in the production of automotive components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for new and existing parts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Production) to develop and launch new products.
• Conduct time studies, process mapping, and root cause analysis to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, and flowcharts.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Ensure all processes comply with ISO/TS 16949 and other relevant industry standards.
• Specify and procure tooling, fixtures, and equipment needed for production.
• Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Train production staff on new processes and standard operating procedures.
• Support cost reduction efforts through process improvements and material usage optimization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as stamping, welding, injection molding, machining, or assembly.
• Functional knowledge of CNC programming in close tolerance applications and PLC nomenclature and programming.
• Knowledge of quality systems, gauging, and close tolerance measurement.
• Knowledge of maintenance systems and equipment PM.
• Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and ERP systems.
• Proficient in data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel).
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP, and SPC.
• Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
