Title: Senior Coordinator of Geographic Delegation (SCGD)

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Expected Hours: Full Time/40+

Salary: Senior Coordinator Salary Scale

Supervisory Duties: Yes

Position Summary:

The Senior Coordinator of Geographic Delegation (SCGD) is responsible for the direct support and oversight of the RN CM/DNs. This includes but is not limited to attending visits, reviewing paperwork, meeting with nurses and completing performance reviews and employee evaluations. The SCGD will support the COO in overseeing and guiding all RN CM/DNs in their roles as well as conducting staff meetings, and providing supervision and training for their team. They are directly responsible for being a support and a point of accountability for the RN CM/DNs. The SCGD is designated as a Mandatory/Essential employee. This employee is a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner providing essential care to intellectually and developmentally disabled persons in the community and are required to report to work during State and/or National emergency periods. This may include traveling during periods with domestic travel restrictions. 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain RN license, CPR certification, malpractice insurance and auto insurance. 

  • Obtain RN CM/DN certification, online HRST Rater training, online HRST Advanced Rater training, and Online HRST Reviewer training.

  • Attend three (3) mandatory Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) nurse quarterly meetings per year. 

  • At minimum, 75% of the SCGDs working time should be spent with RN CM/DNs, people supported or agencies.

  • Act as a support for the agencies and the nurses when there are concerns or questions about people supported and their nursing services. 

  • Lead, coach, manage, and hold accountable the RN CM/DNs to ensure that they grow and provide a higher quality service with higher quality documentation.

  • Support the COO in planning for and facilitate regular staff meetings

  • Be adept in understanding and being able to speak to any changes to DHCA’s policies/processes, general recommendations, etc. to the Provider Agencies and RN CM/DNs. 

  • Conduct quality enhancement work to improve RN CM/DNs ability to provide for the needs of people supported, needs of the agencies and in their documentation. 

  • Serve as a resource for the Provider Agencies and DHCA employees. 

  • Participate in employee management including hiring, terminating and employee reviews. 

  • Maintain regular communications with Provider Agencies and solve problems as they arise. 

  • Collaborate with the Clinical Operations Admin to monitor caseload distribution and coverage for all positions. 

  • Follow-up on any delinquent reports (Ex: Completion of Nursing Baseline, Plan of care, nursing reports).

  • Ensure trainings are conducted professionally and meet education standards to ensure compliance with all state and local regulations.

  • At times of staffing deficit, this position will be expected to cover RN CM/DN caseloads as assigned.

  • Must be available by cell phone, must monitor email regularly.

  • Along with the COO, maintain a positive relationship with DDA, OHCQ, MBON and trade organizations. 

  • Be familiar with MBON, DDA, OHCQ and all other applicable State and Federal policies, regulations and waivers. 

  • Implement/utilize productive leadership strategies with the employees being supervised.

  • Uphold the values of, demonstrate and reinforce the beliefs, policies and best interest of DHCA in all parts of life.

  • Maintain regular communication with leadership, peers and subordinates. 

  • Enforce DHCA’s Employee Handbook policies. 

  • In the event that the United States Government and/or the Local State Government determines and announces the decision to close, delay or cancel activities in the State of Maryland related to emergency conditions, this position is required to complete all regular duties or as instructed by management. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required.

  • Current/valid Maryland RN license or current/valid multistate compact license is required. 

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Nurse Case manager/Delegating Nurse is required.

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the support of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities is required. 

  • Must have current/valid state –issued driver’s license and own reliable transportation.

  • Must have a working “smart” cell phone capable of making calls, receiving calls, receiving emails and sending emails.

  • Must be able to fluently communicate in written and spoken English (Bi-lingual preferred).

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds up to 4 times during a scheduled workday.

  • Must be able to sit and look at a computer for 6 hours during a scheduled workday.

  • Must be able to type on a computer (both laptop and desktop) keyboard and utilize a computer mouse for 6 hours during a scheduled workday.

  • Must be able to walk up and down a minimum of 20 stairs.

  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 90 minutes.

  • Must be able to bend, kneel, and squat throughout the day.

License/Certifications:

  • RN License

  • CPR

  • RN CM/DN certification

  • Online HRST Rater Training, Online HRST Advanced Rater Training, and Online HRST Reviewer Training
