TITLE: Teaching Assistants (Ex. Ed)
Full Time, 10-month position
Exceptional Education Department 

DUTIES: Working under the general supervision of a certified teacher, teaching assistant expectations are:

1. work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects;


2. provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences;


3. assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assisting in the development of instructional materials as requested by the teacher;


4. provide instruction using consultation and teacher developed materials on a limited basis


5. utilize their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar projects;


6. assist in related instructional work and duties as required.

* This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional and behavioral disabilities in special class settings including 8:1:1, 12:1:1, 8:1:3 and/or 12:1+3

QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant certificate - Level 1, 2, 3, or Pre-Professional 

START DATE: As soon as possible

SALARY: $29,160 (2024-2025 full-time base salary for Level 1, additional $1,000 base salary for each Level), plus additional salary credit for relevant experience and/or education. Excellent benefits are available.
