Overview

Receiving general direction from the Senior Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management, the Satellite Security Operations Manager provides a safe and secure environment for Hospital patients, visitors, and employees by enforcing Hospital security policies and by continuously monitoring and responding to all safety hazards or unusual occurrences through oversight of assigned areas. The role is responsible for protection of the people and property of the Hospital and for the day-to-day supervision of department operations at satellite facilities.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assuming the responsibilities of the Senior Director in their absence if appointed.
• Assists in the management of the security and safety program to include violence prevention, loss prevention, patrol operations, enforcement of statutes and hospital policies and regulations and inspection of facilities.
• Works with the Senior Director to ensure that security standards and quality are met and maintained. Recommends changes to the protocol that would improve the overall quality of the department.
• Manages department staff on all shifts.
• Assists the Senior Director in recommendations for hiring, promotion, performance improvement plans, annual performance reviews and terminations. Executes disciplinary action as necessary.
• Conducts safety and security-related training for the hospital community including but not limited to, hospital new hire orientation, De-Escalation Training, Active Shooter Training, etc.
• Acts as an instructor to Security Department Training Programs, including AVADE, Healthcare Defensive Tactics (HDTS) and Handcuff Training.
• Assists in the timely scheduling and completion of all required trainings (i.e. First Aid/CPR/AED, HazMat Level C Operations (All Hazards Awareness for Healthcare Personnel and Healthcare Personal Protective Equipment Operations), etc.
• Documents and maintains records for the timely completion of all required training.
• Identifies training needs and conducts training, certification programs and continuing education for Security Department personnel.
• Gathers, assembles, analyzes, evaluates, and uses facts and evidence. Interviews victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects.
• Tracks, reports and completes follow-up actions on comprehensive Safety and Security Management Plans, including but not limited to Daily Log and Security Incident Report reconciliation, etc.
• Manages and audits the lost & found program and valuables intake/release.
• Responsible for the department vehicle, including scheduling of preventative maintenance, inspection, repair and safety checks.
• Manages investigations into incidents, including criminal activities and violations of safety standards. Serves as the lead investigator in major cases.
• Coordinates patrol operations to ensure proper use of department resources and effective delivery of services.
• Prepares weekly, monthly and annual reports regarding department activities.
• Creates, edits and reviews department policies and procedures.
• Oversees the department’s timely completion of Security Risk Assessments.
• Manages and executes special projects as assigned.
• Assists in the application of the hospital's Safety and Security Management Program.
• Assumes the HICS role of Security Officer in the absence of the Director.
• Exercises independent judgment in the implementation, application, and enforcement of laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
• Performs all other duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required. Degree is preferred. A combination of relevant experience and education will also be considered.
• 5 years of management experience required. 10 years of management experience preferred.
• Ability to be licensed as a Special State Police Officer under the Commonwealth of MA General Laws Chapter 22 C, section 63 preferred.
